Welcome everybody to AI2. Welcome back some of you. I'm very happy to see you. So we're
starting a new semester. As always, let me warn you, learning is all about being engaged
and asking questions. The only reason I'm here is that I can answer questions whereas
my videos cannot. Okay? So do not feel shy about asking questions because that's why
I'm here. Okay? It's much more important that we talk about AI than that I actually show
you the thousand or so slides I have. Okay? Slides accomplish almost nothing. Your brain
does. Okay? The best way to activate your brain, even though the air is, even though
the, come down here, there's lots of space, even though the air is bad and the lighting
is grisly, is because we can talk about things. Okay? So I expect you to ask questions. And
it's the only way of stopping me from talking because if you don't talk, I will. Okay? I'm
paid for this. Okay. So just as a warning, most of you still have something to learn
when asking questions. Okay? Here's a good forum to practice this. After all, you're
here. And I'm very happy to see so many of you here. It's good for you. It's also good
for me because I actually like much better talking to people than black rectangles. Talking
to black rectangles is relatively boring. Okay. With that out of the way, I would like
to just basically barge in with the boring stuff. Okay? We're going to talk today about
administrative things, an overview. Many of you have already heard this. It would be fine
if you actually think, oh yeah, I remember this. I have better things to do. Perfectly
fine. But maybe you have questions. Also, I would, from time to time, take a little
bit of time to reflect about what I've learned the last semester and importantly also what
I've learned while doing the corrections of our exam. And I think that bears some discussion.
Okay. Are there any questions? That of course includes people from Zoom land. So we have,
42 people in Zoom land. And I apologize that I cannot see you while I'm lecturing. I only
have one screen here. But if somebody of you wants to keep an eye on students in distress,
say trying to catch my attention by posting to the chat or so, that would be very helpful.
I cannot see this. So Zoom land students, just raise your voice. Okay? If you have a
question, just shout it out. We might have to repeat it because I have to hold the microphone
to the drabbra here. But we'll make do with what we have. Okay? Try to make the best experience
for everyone. Okay. No. I have to get back to... There we go. Okay. So, if there are
no questions from your side, let's start with admin stuff. I know this is boring, but this
is something we need to get out of the way before we can do the more interesting stuff.
So what do I assume that you know? Oh, by the way, this would probably be a good time
to get to know you. I'm not asking everybody for a name, but I would like to have a show
of hands. Who of you is in the AI master? No, let's do this differently. Sorry. Who
of you is AI master and in their first year freshly arrived from wherever you... Excellent.
Welcome. So who is a return customer among the AI master students? One. Okay. Fine. Who
is data sciences student? Wow. Many of you. Who of you is first semester? And who of you
is second semester? Okay. Who is AI master? No, I'm sorry. Warm me when I'm saying...
I'm not making sense. Who of you is computer science master? That's what I meant. Okay.
Excellent. Who of you is computer science bachelor? Wow. Okay. We had a couple of those
last semester. They're probably busy with their bachelor's thesis right now. Okay. Right.
Who is anything else? Okay. So let me hear what you are. Okay. Mechatronics. Okay. Wonderful.
We need more AI savvy teachers. Bring your friends. It's very important. Who else? Good.
Excellent. Welcome. Anybody? Yes. Mechatronics. Yeah. Good. So here's what I assume you know.
Whenever you design a course, you have to have somebody in mind whom you're talking
to. So I'm assuming that you basically know a little bit of math and some probability,
even though you probably have forgotten most of it, so I'm going to cover most of our bases
there. I'm assuming that you've kind of done the mandatory CS courses at FAU. And of course,
that's wrong, but I'm assuming you know how to program. I'm not going to teach you Prolog
again, but I'm kind of assuming that you will know how to program in Python, at least. Good.
